Range Energy is working hard to make towing cleaner, safer, and better for drivers. Their trailers are providing solutions to the challenges of electrifying long-haul on-road trucks. Now they have come up with a new operational expenditure (OpEx) savings calculator which allows operators to enter their own data points.

Nikola’s battery-electric version of their fuel-cell Tre is automotive writer Jim Park’s focal point as he reflects on how it has been performing in the year since the model hit the streets. The cabover engine (COE) design is eye-catching and for those who are interested he explains how fuel cells work, how it handles, and the experience for drivers.

Hydrogen truck manufacturer Hyzon Motors has revealed its global 200KW fuel cell system and powertrain in a vehicle launched in Australia. Hyzon has designed and assembled the first of its fleet of hydrogen-powered movers-commercial trucks used to tow semi-trailers. They have developed a zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell-powered prime mover that was built in Melbourne.

Many thanks to 360 Charging-as-a-Service provider Electrada for hosting CALSTART’s well-attended reception during Work Truck Week in Indianapolis. The company has just released a white paper on fleet electrification and you can access it here.

On the bus side, CALSTART’s annual report on zero-emission buses found that the more than 6,100 new full-size zero-emission buses on the road marks a 12% increase over the previous year. The report also included growth in market adoption of fuel cell electric buses with growth of more than 75%. Metro magazine touched base with CALSTART’s National Transit Bus Program Manager Mike Hynes to dig a little deeper into the report. Mike noted that he’s seeing fleets in larger markets placing multi-bus orders and those agencies are beginning to partner more with one another.

The Environmental Protection Agency is holding a webinar right now to provide more details about the funding for the Clean Ports Program. Information on funding is available here. If you miss that one, tomorrow on March 14 you are invited to learn more about the $3 billion in funding for zero-emission port equipment and infrastructure. If you want to learn how to access these funds and advance your ZEV strategy, you can do that by registering here.
