The showcase of all things tech is taking place in Las Vegas as the Consumer Technology Association’s trade show features many players in clean transportation. South Korean manufacturer Hyundai took the opportunity to talk about its hydrogen value chain (production, storage, transportation and utilization).

Along with the state of Georgia, the company promoted plans for hydrogen-powered trucks. Hyundai is building a 3,000-acre manufacturing facility near Savannah.

DHL Supply Chain is embracing Orange EV’s electric yard trucks now owning and operating 50 of them. The trucks are deployed at many of DHL’s sites across the country. Orange EV has more than 1,000 of their heavy-duty electric trucks deployed across 36 states. AT&T is looking forward to including hybrid and electric vehicles in their fleet and they’ve turned their sites to Rivian which ended their exclusivity agreement with Amazon. The company hasn’t yet announced how many Rivian vehicles they will acquire.

Mullen Automotive is making news as the southern California-based maker of the Mullen ONE, a class 1 EV cargo van, has received certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The vehicle is designed to navigate narrow urban streets and residential roads. From the beginning, CALSTART’s Tom Brotherton has overseen CARB’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP). This week he was in Washington state presenting on HVIP to the Joint Transportation Committee which is looking at a proposed EV truck voucher program.

The aggregates industry is comprised of about 4,500 mining companies with operations in all 50 states. CRH, a building materials company, is part of that industry and has partnered with Caterpillar to deploy battery electric off-highway trucks for their operations. Their focus is on deploying 70 to 100-ton-class battery electric off-highway trucks and charging solutions in North America.

On the transit side Via works across the globe maximizing transportation systems into efficient digital networks. Sioux Falls transit has signed up for a five-year agreement with Via which will be responsible for technology management and operations of on demand service for the city.

Kudos to Audi of America for stellar fourth quarter electric car sales at the end of last year. The company sold over 25,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) last year and in the fourth quarter they realized 12% year-over-year growth.
