The California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved funding that will continue to provide access to medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission trucks, buses, and equipment. Small businesses are the focus and $34.94 million is included in the incentives funding plan. The plan also places an emphasis on addressing environmental inequities including 60% of the funding focused on equitable outcomes.
There’s been speculation about the possibility that the incoming Trump administration could eliminate the $7,500 federal tax credit for people who buy electric vehicles (EVs). California Governor Gavin Newsom is committing to creating an updated version of the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program which would restart the state’s Zero Emission Vehicle rebate program.
Hyzon is a U.S.-based hydrogen fuel cell system manufacturer and technology developer. They just completed a trial with Mt. Diablo Resource Recover (MDRR) in Concord, California where they tested hydrogen powered vehicles targeting routes in various part of California. This is Hyzon’s 10th trial since July.
Earlier this year Flint Michigan’s Mass Transit Authority replaced its last two diesel buses with hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced an additional $11 million investment this week. Newly received federal funding will result in the advancement of planning and development including the use of hydrogen trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
Looking to buy an electric pickup truck? The Street compiled a list of six EV pickup trucks ranging from least to most expensive. All the included trucks are CALSTART members and include vehicles from Ram 1500 REV, 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning, 2024 Rivian R1T, 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, and the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is out with a new version of its Transportation Technology Total Cost of Ownership (T3CO) tool. One of the many things the tool can do is analyze costs by three categories including capital costs, operating costs and opportunity costs.
