Last week the Biden administration issued a rule designed to ensure that most new passenger cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. are all-electric or hybrids by 2032. InCharge Energy CEO Terry O’Day suggests that the regulation gives investors greater certainty that electric vehicles (EVs) will be on the road and charging infrastructure solutions will be available.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has allocated $44 million for EV charging infrastructure. This is round two of funding through the rebuild Illinois funding program. Each application must include a minimum of two publicly accessible charging station locations.

BorgWarner has announced a multi-firm collaboration in China to develop fast-charging infrastructure for long haul trucks for Goodman Group, and zero-emission long-haul truck developer Windrose Technology. The project will be the world’s first operational megawatt-level super-charging infrastructure and will be located near Beijing.

Greenlane, a joint venture that includes NextEra Energy Resources, Daimler Truck and BlackRock has announced its first commercial EV charging corridor. It covers 280 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The corridor features more than 100 chargers, modern amenities that enhance driver comfort, and resilience for high uptime and ultimately moving freight more efficiently.

Kudos to Ree Automotive for being awarded two certificates from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its Class 4 P7-C chassis cab. The certifications include Phase 2 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) covering the complete vehicle and the new Zero Emission Powertrain (ZEB).

Nuvve Holding specializes in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology has launched a new website to provide information on its V2G Hub projects. The Hubs are designed to optimize the charging and discharging of EV batteries with a focus on battery health and meeting the driving needs of the vehicle.

Ballard Power Systems is a Canadian-based company that develops and manufactures proton exchange membrane fuel cell products. The company has announced a new plant in Texas where they will produce fuel cell components and systems. The factory name is Ballard Rockwall Giga 1 and is in Rockwell, Texas. And, Nikola has opened its first HYLA brand hydrogen high-pressure refueling station and facility in Southern California. The grand opening was last week in Ontario, CA. The station can fuel up to 40 Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric class 8 trucks per day.
