EMI/EMC, Cybersecurity and Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

Monday, February 14, 2022

As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, so do the corresponding risks posed to cybersecurity and the electromagnetic environment. HTUF and CALSTART are presenting a panel on the growing electric vehicle market and potential solutions to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Mr. Paul Spandafora, CEO of Avante Global Consulting, will provide market updates on electric trucks and electric buses, including global supply chains, as OEMs transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric propulsion platforms through 2040. As charging solutions grow alongside the electric vehicle market, Dr. Burak Ozpineci, of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will discuss charging station deployment issues such rate of charge, station maintenance, and energy availability, and the interface between charging operations and EMI/EMC. Lastly, Professor Mark Steffka of University of Detroit Mercy, Department of Electrical Engineering, will discuss EMI/EMC standards and testing capabilities, including issues affecting on-board and off-board digital systems, to meet global vehicle and charging standards.
