General Motors (GM) has started selling products to let people power their homes using their GM electric vehicles. The products could mitigate weather-related power outages by allowing you to power your home in an emergency. GM Energy is the consumer facing arm that provides an e-commerce platform at GMEnergy.gm.com Tesla stock is surging as the company announces the launch of cheaper cars. Their stock exceeded 10% as the market opened. Elon Musk is promising to share more on August 8 which is when the company will reveal their robotaxi.
 
Kudos to European bus manufacturer Iveco for winning Busplaner’s International Sustainability Award 2024. The award honors companies recognized for their contributions in the bus industry for responsible and sustainable growth. Iveco is an Italian multinational vehicle manufacturing company. 
 
Rivian is in the news again and this time they are announcing an exclusive global partnership with MEVCO (Mining Electric Vehicle Company). Rivian’s role in the arrangement is to provide electric vehicles (EVs) to the mining, mining services and mining equipment industries. Mevco provides EV fleets to the mining industry.
 
Nikola is looking north as the company holds out great promise that Canada could be a solid market for hydrogen-fueled Class 8 trucks. The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) has bought two hydrogen-fueled trucks by way of exposing its member fleets to the technology. California is the site of the first commercial hydrogen fueling stations for big-rig trucks in the United States. FirstElement is the largest hydrogen vehicle fuel distributor in the U.S. The station is operating at the Port of Oakland.
 
Mullen Automotive has reached 500 commercial vehicles produced out of its Tunica, Mississippi commercial vehicle manufacturing and assembly facility. The company is also announcing that it has 18 active commercial vehicle pilots with fleets, municipalities, universities and campuses. 
 
Amazon is the foremost North American third-party logistics provider having debuted at the top of the Transport Topics’ 2024 100 Logistics Companies list. This is the first time Amazon.com Inc’s logistics operations have been recognized on the list.
 
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the availability of $932M through the Clean Heavy-Duty Program. Funding will be given to eligible recipients to replace existing non-zero-emission Class 6 and 7 heavy-duty vehicles with eligible Class 6 and 7 zero-emission vehicles.
