Communities in Charge: $30M in incentives for level 2 chargers

With funding from the California Energy Commission, CALSTART is implementing the Communities in Charge project to accelerate the deployment of Level 2 EV charging infrastructure across the state. Incentives are open to a wide range of projects, including public, private, and mixed-use charging sites. Eligible equipment includes Level 2 chargers, electrical equipment, installation costs, and more. Project costs incurred after December 23, 2022 are eligible for incentive funding, and amounts can be up to $3,500 per eligible charging connector or 75% of total project costs. Additional funding is available for projects sponsored by tribal governments, tribal entities, or nonprofits serving tribal communities. The application process will prioritize shovel-ready projects and those located in disadvantaged, low-income, or tribal communities.
