AC Transit is the transit of choice for nearly 170,000 riders each weekday. With two service areas traversing an astounding 364-square service mile, we operate 151 bus lines, aboard 637 active coaches. AC Transit has also emerged as a world-recognized leader in the deployment of zero-emission buses. We now have a fleet of 29 Battery Electric Buses (BEB) and Fuel Cell Electric Buses (FCEB). This innovative fleet places AC Transit in an enviable position: the first Bay Area transit agency to conduct a side-by-side comparison of zero-emission technologies. The resulting data will be essential to determining the technology best suited for this region’s weather, topography, and other operational demands.
